We’re still shipping to the USA - and (mostly) without tariffs

Although we’re a proud Canadian business, it won’t surprise you to learn that a huge chunk of our work and sales comes from our American neighbours. So when the prospect of new tariffs and trade restrictions came up, we were naturally concerned. However, thanks to some hard work and fortunate exemptions, we’ve managed to work out how to keep our cross-border operations running smoothly - here’s the current rundown:

Saddle bags and other soft goods

All of our Rocket Pocket saddle bags, as well as our tool cases and tool rolls, are made in Canada from majority North American materials, so these items are exempt from import tariffs and no additional charges will be made upon delivery to the US.

Although our caps are made from Japanese cotton and other fabrics, these are also sewn in Canada and therefore exempt from crossborder tariffs.

Shipping is being handled by a third party and all orders will be delivered by USPS after crossing the border.

Border processing is taking longer than usual so we’re seeing typically delivery times of 10-15 working days.

Bike frames for repainting and carbon repair

For import/export purposes, any frames sent to us are deemed to be ‘repairs’ rather than sales, so no tariffs should be applied on the basis of the cost of the work we do.

Before shipping anything to us, please get in touch for detailed guidance on how to declare the value of your frame on the paperwork.

As many of the frames we work on are made outside of the USA and Canada, there is a risk of a tariff or import duty being applied when we return the finished frame back to you - for example, with a Colnago frame that was originally made in Italy.

Kit repairs

As with frames being sent to us, any kit repairs are deemed to be ‘repairs’ for customs purposes and therefore should be exempt from any tariffs.

However, there is the same risk with goods that were originally made outside of North America, but as the value is typically much lower any duties will be lower.

Please get in touch for guidance on declaring values etc before shipping any kit repairs to us.

Other items (Bottles, tools, and other non-VéloColour products)

The majority of the tools and other items we sell are not made in the USA or Canada, so import duties may be applied.

This is most commonly seen with the Lezyne multitools and Campagnolo tire levers we sell, but again due to the relatively low value of these items any duties should be under $10 based on what we’ve seen so far.

Our paint protection kits are made from USA-made material and cut to shape here in Canada, so these are exempt from tariffs.
